Balkans: World Bank, GDP up 5.9% in 2021

Recovery is fueled by strong export

(ANSA) - BELGRADE, OCT 21 - Growth in the Western Balkans is expected to rebound to 5.9 percent in 2021 and moderate to 4.1 percent in 2022, the World Bank said in its newest Western Balkans Regular Economic Report. The recovery was fueled by "a combination of domestic reopening and favorable external conditions for the region's exports," the Washington-based institution noted.

According to the new forecasts, growth in Albania will reach 7.2% this year, 4.0% in Bosnia and Herzegovina, 7.1% in Kosovo, 10.8% in Montenegro, 4.6% in North Macedonia and 6.0% in Serbia.

In 2020, the GDP in Albania fall by 4.0%, by 3.2% in Bosnia and Herzegovina, by 5.3% in Kosovo, by 15.3% in Montenegro, by 4.5% in North Macedonia and only by 1.0% in Serbia, according to World Bank data. (ANSA).
