Italy's President, Gorizia-Nova-Gorica chose union

Slovenian President, meeting of hope in a better, shared future

(ANSA) - GORIZIA, OCT 22 - "Today, we can talk about culture again, to pay homage to these two beautiful and dynamic cities of Nova Gorica and Gorizia. By jointly applying to host the events of the European Capital of Culture 2025, the two municipalities have demonstrated how it is possible to embody the deep reasons that underlie the process of European integration. The border - this border - is again a decisive factor of unity, exactly where once it 'cut' the fabric of a unitary urban reality, although belonging to two different countries." That is what Italy's President, Sergio Mattarella, said during the celebrations of Gorizia and Nova Gorica European Capital of Culture 2025, which he attended along with the President of the Republic of Slovenia, Borut Pahor.

"In the path that will lead them to 2025, Gorizia and Nova Gorica will be the showcase of the authentic European spirit, putting in place programs and initiatives - Mattarella added - that can all benefit from the cultural pluralism. This aspect is one of the most attractive features of these lands. Moreover, the unitary assignment to the two cities of the title of European Capital of Culture confirms that cultural diversity is not something that distances and separates, but a value that enriches this area and those who live in it, those who attend, and admire it." "Today's event, full of precious and noble emotions, has deeply impressed me. This meeting so full of hope, trust, and sincere faith in a better and common future enraptured me", said the Slovenian President Borut Pahor. (ANSA).
