Barcolana: Village opens in Trieste, aims for sustainability

Over 200 exhibitors on the "Rive" and in the city center

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, 05 OTT - About two hundred exhibitors, thirty recycled containers, and over one hundred technostructures: the Barcolana Village also opens today along Trieste's Rive, after the stands in Piazza Unità and near the Scala Reale opened last Saturday. The leading teams, sponsor spaces, and food and wine booths are located inside the Village.

"After two complex years due to the pandemic - said Barcola and Grignano Sailing Society President Mitja Gialuz during a meeting - we are returning to a Village layout that is more open and full of activities. It will be a great pleasure to walk around again and meet everyone sailing up the Adriatic to participate in our big party".

A Village that looks at sustainability: "We would like to move beyond plastic, it is a goal we have for the next few years, and we have to achieve it through a transition path," Gialuz added.

The "stars" of the Village, organizers emphasize, remain the moored boats and their respective crews, looking forward to racing over the weekend in the shadow of Nave Vespucci, whose arrival in Trieste is scheduled for Saturday. (ANSA).
