(ANSA) - ROME, MAY 24 - According to Henry Kissinger, the
West
should not seek to inflict defeat on Russia, and Ukraine should
give up some territory for peace. According to the 98-year-old
former U.S. secretary of state, speaking at the World Economic
Forum at Davos and quoted by several international media,
including Britain's Telegraph, Kyiv should "start negotiations
before riots and tensions arise that would not be easy to
overcome."
Kissinger added that "ideally, the tipping point should be a
return to the status quo ante" before the invasion. Kissinger
underlined that Russia is part of Europe and that it would be a
"fatal mistake" to forget this country's strong influence on the
continent for centuries and that the West should not lose sight
of its long-term relationship with Moscow. Even considering the
threat of a permanent and increasingly strong alliance of the
latter country with China." (ANSA).
