Bulgaria: former PM Borissov wins general elections

(ANSA) - SOFIA, OCT 3 - After counting 99.03% of the electoral ballots in Bulgaria, the conservative Gerb party, led by Boyko Borissov, is confirmed in the lead with 25.43% of the votes. The turnout for yesterday's election was extremely low, falling below 40%. The liberal party Pp of Kiril Petkov, the former premier who resigned last June after remaining at the helm of a disheartened coalition in parliament for a few months, received 20.21% of the votes, placing second. With 13.56%, the Turkish minority party DPS comes in third. (ANSA).
