Italian police on Thursday arrested
11 youths who are alleged 'serial robbers' in Palermo.
The 11, who include two minors, are accused of robbery, theft
and personal injury.
They are said to be members of a youth gang that staged several
robberies in the centre of the Sicilian capital recently.
Ten of them were detained in prison and one placed under house
arrest.
They face 21 charges in connection with three thefts and 19
robberies allegedly committed on September 10 and November 17
last year.
They targeted victims of the same age in the historic centre at
night, taking their phones and cash, police said.
The gang always acted in the same way, surrounding and
terrorizing their victims, and sometimes beating them if they
reacted.
The arrests were made on the basis of CCTV footage and
descriptions from their alleged victims.
