A "new phase" has been opened in the
fight against COVID-129 after 91% of Italians have had their
first jab, Health Minister Roberto Speranza said Friday.
"We've got 91% f Italians over the age of 12 who have received
their first dose of anti-COVID vaccine, 88% who've had two doses
and have completed the primary cycle, and almost 35 million
having had the booster too," he said.
"This enables us to open a new phase in the fight against
COVID".
Speranza added: "We still have to keep our feet on the ground
and have the utmost prudence, but for the first time in many
weeks we are looking at the numbers with confidence, which are
finally improving".
The COVID occupancy rate in intensive care has dropped again, to
14.8 and in general wards to 29.5%, the minister stressed.
