Guerini,Nato should also pay attention to its southern flank
Italian presence in the Mediterranean and Africa is crucial

(ANSA) - TRIESTE, SEP 19 - "There has been a transformation
on the Nato's eastern flank, consequent to the conflict in
Ukraine. It's essential, though, for Nato to look to its
southern flank and maintain a 360-degree view. The repercussions
of the situation in Ukraine on the Mediterranean Sea are
evident: Russia has intensified its presence in this sea, and so
has China. So the southern flank deserves attention within the
Atlantic alliance, and Italy must be effective in this
quadrant." Italy's Defense Minister Lorenzo Guerini said,
speaking at the Limes conference "The days of the sea" in
Trieste. (ANSA).
