A company liquidator was arrested
Thursday in a probe into the Lombardy Film Commission.
Luca Sostegni was stopped while trying to flee to Brazil.
He is accused of embezzling funds from the Lombardy regional
government, as well as extortion.
Three accountants have already been placed under investigation
in the probe.
Police are also investigating funds belonging to the nationalist
opposition League party.
Sostegni has been charged with inflating the sale price of an
industrial building at Cormano near Milan, which was sold to the
film commission.
The League has faced funding probes in the past.
It was sentenced to repay 49 million euros in misappropriated
funds over 80 years.
It has also been at the centre of an alleged case of funding,
which it denies, via purported Russian oil kickbacks, allegedly
organised by a former aide of leader Matteo Salvini.
