The A1 motorway was closed in both
directions in the area of the northern city of Lodi on Wednesday
after a tanker truck burst into flames following an accident.
The lorry, which was carrying medicine waste fluids, hit the
guard rail, turned over and caught fire.
Rescue workers took a 47-year-old man, possibly the truck's
driver, to hospital in the town of Melegnano.
