Centre-left Democratic Party (PD)
secretary Elly Schlein "can't get one right" after calling on
Premier Giorgia Meloni to forrce Tourism Minister Daniela
Santanchè to quit after a Milan prosecutor asked for her to be
sent ti trial for alleged fraud, Santanchè's spokesman Salvatore
Tramontano said Friday.
The prosecutor asked for trial for the bigwig in Meloni's
Brothers of Italy (FdI) party on suspicion of defrauding social
security and pensions agency INPS over COVID redundancy funds.
Santanchè, 63, has said she will quit if indicted in this or a
number of other alleged graft cases linked to her former
Visibilia publishing empire's activities.
Tramontano said Schlein had "got it wrong" in suggesting the
minister had been indicted, whereas a request for her indictment
had merely been made.
