Today, the European Commission
recommended that EU accession negotiations with Bosnia and
Herzegovina begin. Bosnia and Herzegovina, according to the
Commission's progress reports, has demonstrated a strong
commitment to moving forward with long-pending reforms such as
the adoption of the law on conflict of interest prevention, as
well as the law on anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism
financing. Bosnia and Herzegovina has taken significant steps to
improve the judiciary and prosecutorial system, combat
corruption, organised crime, and terrorism, and improve
migration management, including the approval of a mandate to
negotiate a Frontex status agreement. Furthermore, the EU said,
Bosnia and Herzegovina has achieved and maintained full
alignment with the EU Common Foreign and Security Policy, which
is a significant step forward and critical in these times of
geopolitical turmoil.
