"We promised to uphold the rule
of law in the Union while remaining fair to all member states.
Last May, Hungary approved a new law on justice reform. "This is
what we asked for, and Hungary delivered," EU Commission
President Ursula von der Leyen told the European Chamber. "At
the same time, approximately 20 billion euros are frozen. They
were suspended over concerns about LGBTQ rights, academic
freedom, and the right to asylum. And they will remain frozen
until the demands are met," von der Leyen said.
