Eleonora Insalaco, director of operations and intercultural research for the Anna Lindh Foundation (ALF), announced that the foundation is planning to institute the "Euromed Capital for Dialogue Award". The award is in recognition of the fact that projects to promote dialogue exist at the local level together with "various best practices and policies implemented in cities from the north and the south of the Mediterranean". Insalaco made the announcement during a June 9 webinar titled "Arts and Education for Intercultural Cities: Local Platforms for Dialogue", which was the fourth public dialogue in the Virtual Marathon for Dialogue in the EuroMed Region, organised by ALF. Insalaco said the award will be launched in the coming weeks "to offer recognition starting in 2021 for ideally two cities, one in Europe and one in the northern and eastern Mediterranean, which have already implemented best practices on an operational level and policies for dialogue and management of diversity". "The idea is to use this award to promote awareness of these practices that already exist and to encourage more cities to invest in this work for dialogue and reward the efforts achieved," she said.
